For your safety, we may need to delay dental treatment or routine visits if you have recently had certain medical procedures or hospital treatment.

Recent Medical Procedures:

Please let the team know about any of the following:

Cataract surgery — within the last 6 weeks

Heart attack — within the last 6 months

Heart stent or heart valve surgery — within the last 6 months

Joint replacement surgery — within the last 6 months

Stroke — within the last 6 months

Medications Requiring Restricted Contact - Guidance to be provided

Or have an upcoming procedure that may affect your next appointment

Why?

During dental treatment or hygiene cleaning, there is risk that bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream (known as bacteraemia).

Following recent surgery or medical treatment, this may increase the risk of infection around healing areas, implants, joints or organs.

What To Do Next

If any of the above applies to you, please speak to a member of the team before booking treatment or ahead of your upcoming visit.

Further Guidance

We are happy to accept written guidance from your medical team should they advise that it is safe to proceed with dental treatment sooner than the timeframes outlined above.
